In 2026, MeatOut once again demonstrated the growing momentum of the movement to end the use of animals for food. Through high-impact government recognition, strategic partnerships, and on-the-ground outreach, this year’s campaign reached and inspired countless individuals to choose plant-based foods—if only for a day, and ideally for life.
Government Recognition & Public Visibility
This year, MeatOut achieved significant milestones in official recognition. Proclamations were secured from the state of Maryland and New York City, further legitimizing the call to leave animals off our plates. In addition, the Puerto Rico government issued a Letter of Recognition, expanding MeatOut’s reach beyond the mainland United States and reinforcing its growing international presence.
These official endorsements not only elevate the message of MeatOut but also spark media coverage, community engagement, and meaningful conversations about the impact of our food choices.
Washington, DC Outreach: Cherry Blossom Festival Actions
FARM’s presence in Washington, DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival served as a cornerstone of this year’s MeatOut campaign. Over four days of outreach, activists engaged thousands of residents and tourists in one of the city’s most high-traffic, high-visibility settings.
With a strong, coordinated effort, volunteers:
Distributed thousands of leaflets and plant-based coupons
Handed out hundreds of plant-based food samples
Engaged passersby in friendly, informative conversations about choosing plant-based options
This level of visibility ensured that MeatOut messaging reached a broad and diverse audience at a time when people were already gathered in a celebratory, open-minded atmosphere.
Strategic Partnerships & Incentives
This year’s outreach was strengthened through impactful partnerships that made it easier than ever for individuals to take the next step toward plant-based eating.
Pow Pow partnered with FARM to offer a 20% discount coupon, giving participants an immediate and accessible way to try delicious plant-based meals.
Forager Project contributed coupons that were distributed during outreach, further lowering barriers and encouraging trial of plant-based products.
These partnerships transformed curiosity into action—moving people from conversation to real behavior change.
A Movement Powered by Action
From official proclamations to boots-on-the-ground outreach, MeatOut 2026 was defined by energy, visibility, and impact. Volunteers showed up, conversations were started, and thousands of individuals were given both the inspiration and the tools to make more compassionate choices.
This is what progress looks like: consistent, strategic, and people-powered.
And with each year, MeatOut continues to grow—reaching more people, building more partnerships, and bringing us closer to a world where animals are no longer seen as food, but as individuals deserving of respect and protection.
