Meatout
Demands Recall of
All Animal Products
In the wake of USDA’s
largest ever recall
of ground beef because
it came from sick,
abused cows, The Great American
Meatout is calling
for recall of ALL animal
products, as they ALL
come from abused animals.
On
Sunday, February 17,
2008, the U.S. Department
of Agriculture closed
down the Westland/Hallmark
slaughterhouse in Chino,
CA, precipitating the
recall of 143 million
pounds of ground beef. This
largest ever recall
amounts to nearly 300,000
cows or 2 burgers for
every American.
The recall
resulted from
undercover video footage
taken by the Humane
Society of the United
States. The video reveals
California slaughterhouse
workers using kicks,
electric shock, high-pressure
water hoses, and a
forklift to force sick
or injured animals
onto the kill floor.
Seldom enforced USDA
regulations prohibit
processing sick and injured animals because
of the high risk of contamination
by E. coli, Salmonella,
or “Mad
Cow” disease.
Spread the Message!
These recent events have been
featured on major TV
news stations and newspapers
around the country.
We are now calling
all activists to send
a message to the
USDA and American public:
Recall all animal products,
as they ALL come from
abused animals!
We need to make it known that
the cruel practices at the
Westland/Hallmark meat
plant are "Standard
Operating Procedures," they are NOT exceptions!

DC
ACTION! FARM
staff and supporters
held a demonstration
demanding a TOTAL
RECALL of
all meat products
in front of the
USDA in Washington,
DC on Thursday,
February 28th.
